\u00a0 Finland is definitely a country that brings forth many and many band in all
\n\u00a0 styles. Afterword is another band that comes from Helsinki and after years of
\n\u00a0 jamming and having fun they are now taking things serious.<\/p>\n

\nBack in 1999 it all started with an instrumental guitar project from Ilkka Haavisto and\u00a0\u00a0Samuel Marna.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 In that year Jaakko Katila joined to accompany the guitars with some drums.
\n\u00a0 The band played some memorable gigs. In 2002 things changed due to the fact
\n\u00a0 that band members were abroad, but acoustic gigs were still played by those
\n\u00a0 who were left behind. The band developed a different approach on stage and decided
\n\u00a0 to give the band a different name and changed it into \u201cAfterword\u201d.
\n\u00a0 In 2003 Jussi Kurki, bass player, became a full member of the band. Since then
\n\u00a0 the band is serious and this year they produced their EP \u201cNot Aware\u201d<\/p>\n

\u00a0 When listening to their music you can hear what bands influences influence
\n\u00a0 them, bands such as Stereophonics and Pearl Jam. They create nice rock songs
\n\u00a0 with nice guitar riffs. The influences from the brothers Gallagher are also
\n\u00a0 recognisable and gives Afterword’s music a britpop, and an alternative rock
\n\u00a0 feeling.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 The EP starts with \u201cNot Aware\u201d but you can hear that they are aware
\n\u00a0 of what they are playing. Some good rock-ish intro and introduction to Ilkka’s
\n\u00a0 voice, which derives perfectly for this kind of music. A nice drum rhythm starts
\n\u00a0 the second song and the melody of the vocals sounds a bit the same as the first
\n\u00a0 song. \u201cAway from Familiar\u201d is then completely different, a total different
\n\u00a0 approach. This song starts a bit sad with clearly some Finnish melancholy but
\n\u00a0 the chorus sounds much happier. Ilkka is using his voice with more variation,
\n\u00a0 putting more emotion to the song. A very nice bass-line greets you at \u201cOrange
\n\u00a0 Ghosts\u201d their final track. To me this song represents Afterword best. It
\n\u00a0 lets you hear some nice rock-ish guitars, tempo drums, nice bass-line and Ilkka
\n\u00a0 singing a bit rougher throughout the song. A good way to introduce people to
\n\u00a0 the band.<\/p>\n
