Inspired from the Spanish salsa and the new influences from Belgium such\u00a0as Deus and Zita Swoon and the tapes his father had sent him he started to work\u00a0with Jo Bogaert and created the final Gabriel Rios style.<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The venue was nicely filled with people from all over the Netherlands because<br \/>\nMr. Gabriel does not bring that many visits to the Netherlands. Since his big<br \/>\nhit \u201cBroad Daylight\u201d people appreciate his music and take the chance<br \/>\nto see him perform. On his myspace you can see that he got inspired by romantic\u00a0salsa and reggaeton. For me, I would expect Gabriel Rios more at a nice festival\u00a0in the sunshine with some sangria.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 He has a whole band with him, which is a little hidden in the dark back of<br \/>\n\u00a0 the stage. Of course the gig is about him and not his band but I would have<br \/>\n\u00a0 liked it if the girl that was singing would have come forward and maybe interact<br \/>\n\u00a0 with Gabriel. People around me did not seem to mind this and liked to performance.<br \/>\n\u00a0 Gabriel is quite a small guy, although he stands there in the middle attracting<br \/>\n\u00a0 most attention, it seems that he makes little dances with his guitar. He does<br \/>\n\u00a0 not bore you while watching. He pulls different faces while singing and you<br \/>\n\u00a0 see he sings with his heart. Every now and then the Spanish salsa is introduced<br \/>\n\u00a0 and it is hard to stand still on your spot. People start to dance and move and<br \/>\n\u00a0 seem to enjoy themselves. His music gets a little more danceable because of<br \/>\n\u00a0 the electric beats they are using. It is fun to see that people start to move<br \/>\n\u00a0 a little more when he sings in Spanish and sing along when he sings in English.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 He started the gig with \u201cBaby Lone Star\u201d and sing mostly in English.<br \/>\n\u00a0 To get the people enjoy the evening, he tells the audience that sometimes he<br \/>\n\u00a0 just ask people to clap and keep clapping. Some of the women in the crowd listen<br \/>\n\u00a0 to him and accompany him with clapping while he sings one of his new songs.<br \/>\n\u00a0 Towards the end of his performance he sings more songs in Spanish and also after<br \/>\n\u00a0 the encore he end with: \u201cPapo\u201d, \u201cLa Plena\u201d, \u201cSantera\u201d<br \/>\n\u00a0 and the final song this evening was \u201cWish\u201d.<br \/>\n\u00a0 A really nice salsa evening with a crowd which was quite enjoying this.<\/p>\n<p><center><br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0 <\/center>More pictures can be found at photographicretentions.nl<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Date: 14-12-2007; Venue: Bibelot Dordrecht(Netherlands) By: Elvira\u00a0 Visser Gabriel Rios is a Puerto Rico guy, but\u00a0\u00a0 living in Belgium after he found some love.
