Not even the Iron Curtain could
stop the spread of the sickness that spewed from the first incarnation of the
band, Koefte (vocals), Stein (guitar) and Holly when they blasted headlong into
the thriving European Psychobilly scene with their first full length album “Chills
and Thrills”. Since then they released more than ten studio albums.
“20 Years In Sin Sin” is a celebration of the lifetime of musical
depravity that has epitomized the career of the band. This collection spans
the years since their inception back in those squat dwelling days of two decades
ago. As well as old favorites and rare B-Sides the new album boasts six brand
new studio tracks, five which emanate from the poison pen of Koefte De Ville
as well as barnstorming live performance recorded on their triumphant tour of
America last year which climaxed at this Hollywood show and was recorded by
Moses Schneider producer of the Beatsteaks for prosperity.

And now, after catching them live on their “20 Years In Sin Sin”
tour I finally found the time to listen to this double album including two multimedia
tracks.

Right after pressing play rocking and kick ass music comes straight to your
ear and enters your brain. Psychobilly at its best! The music is fast and energetic,
somewhat aggressive yet quite melodic with great guitars and a stand-up bass.
The song “Pigfarm” has pig and slaughter noises, as well as a news
speaker in it, which makes it somehow creepy and yet you have to listen to this
song very closely and just can’t stop. “50 Miles To Nowhere”
is a speed rocking song, very fast. “Lullaby” has a nice melody. “Ich
Kann Nicht Schlafen” reminds me of Nina Hagen, vocal wise and has a catchy
melody. And so the album continues to spread the sin. The live album gives you
an impression of the spirit that’s going on at their shows. You can hear
how loud and enthusiastic the audience is, and you can guess how much action
there’s going on. “Speak No Evil” was catching my attention because
Koefte keeps on spitting during this song and you can hear it so clearly that
you picture it in your mind, whether you want it or not. Of course the cover
song “I Shot The Sheriff” is not missing on this album. A song they
always perform live. The last thing to explore are the two multimedia tracks
on the Live CD, two live tracks of a festival show give you the opportunity
to catch a quick peak on what is really going on during a Mad Sin gig. Not only
that there’s a lot of moshing, drinking and many big guys in the crowd,
no, but also a lot of action going on onstage. In the video to “I Shot
The Sheriff” you can see Hellvis spitting fire.

Let’s see what the next 20 years of Sin will bring for Mad Sin from Berlin/Germany.

CD1 (Studio Side) 1.
