\u00a0 Tonight was a night where three metal bands were performing at the Nachtleben
\n\u00a0 in Frankfurt. Two of them were Finnish. The bands were: Drone from Germany, Amoral
\n\u00a0 and Norther from Finland. The Nachtleben was quite full for a Sunday night,
\n\u00a0 full with typical metal heads: long hear and dressed in all black, mostly wearing
\n\u00a0 band shirts of some metal bands.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 The first band to perform tonight was Drone from Celle\/Germany: fast, heavy,
\n\u00a0 loud. closes the gap between modern and old school, between virtuosity and strong
\n\u00a0 rhythms. Their musical roots stretch back to bands like Testament, Machine Head
\n\u00a0 or Pantera. But the Drones have been roaming a few other musical grounds as
\n\u00a0 well, be it Rock or Death Metal, Jazz or Classics.
\n\u00a0 All this experience and all the band members own musical background, topped
\n\u00a0 off with a whole lot of metal heart, add up to this special blend you get to
\n\u00a0 hear with Drone. Catchy and sophisticated arrangements – multi faceted but not
\n\u00a0 getting lost in detail – vary with powerful jump-up-riffs. All this embedded
\n\u00a0 in melodic heaviness – what more could you ask for?
\n\u00a0 The band has released their first promo cd Octane featuring 6 tracks in January
\n\u00a0 2006. The full length debut “Head-on Collision” was released by Armageddon
\n\u00a0 Records in 2007.
\n\u00a0 They rocked the crowd and let the windmills start (these metal guys banging
\n\u00a0 their heads so much, that it looks like windmills).<\/p>\n

\u00a0 After them played Amoral, a Finish band that showed their German skills by
\n\u00a0 talking to the audience in quite good German. Amoral is progressive, technical
\n\u00a0 and melodic death-thrasing metal. That is one way to summarise Amoral, the Helsinkian
\n\u00a0 band celebrating its 10th anniversary, and also their third album “Reptile
\n\u00a0 Ride”. But, you know, better not try to sum them up in neat little package
\n\u00a0 in any of the myriad sub-genres of Metal. They kept the widmills going and got
\n\u00a0 the mosh starting, or at least growing, I was busy with taking pics and getting
\n\u00a0 through the crowd safely that I did not really see when the actual moshpit started,
\n\u00a0 but at least did it grow during this band.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 Last one for tonight was Norther. The history of Norther dates back to the
\n\u00a0 year 1996, when Toni Hallio and Petri Lindroos started playing together under
\n\u00a0 the monicker Requiem with two other guys. After a short split-up and loosing
\n\u00a0 their rehearsal lair, the boys persevered and played as a trio wherever possible:
\n\u00a0 at home, in Hallio’s grandmother’s attic (no joke!), in cellars, youth centers…<\/p>\n

\u00a0 I could tell you their complete story, but you can read it yourself at their
\n\u00a0 page. Norther is metal as well, with keys though and some nice vocals. They
\n\u00a0 got the crowd wild. The windmills were everywhere, as well as the mosh. They
\n\u00a0 really enthused the audience.<\/p>\n
