When entering the stage the
audience was standing still awaiting what this French band from Paris would
bring them. Nice way to see that after a few songs, second after second more
heads were nodding.
I never heard about Zuul Fx and I was one of those people that was standing
still but I have to admit they impressed me with their play and their performance.
Good way to open a gig with some synchronised head banging from the three men
at the front. Their music has some powerful drumming played by Aurel and great
guitar play by Karim. Both of them graduate at the MAI, a famous music school
in Nancy. This mixed with the vocals of Zuul and the bass player Shag completes
the sound of the band

The Dutch band Demia, impressed me as well. I had seen them before and liked
them but today I must say they were rocking on that stage! Great energetic show.
Their singer Yoav is really born to be on stage, he knows how to pull the attention
to him from the audience and is very energetic moving around on the stage. Besides
the singer also bass player Spit is making a show on stage. What I like about
this band is their drummer Sky and what he is capable off. This band offers
an awesome dose of slick sounding metal, but there’s more to this band than
just that. They incorporate whispering and alternate clean vocals with bursting
screams with the great ease. Most of the songs they played this evening came
from their recently released album “Insidious”. They also played “Sycophant”one
of their older songs. To me they had taken their performance to another level,
great show. A promising band for the near future, if you have the chance the
to see them live you should. I think this is one of those bands that are better
when they are on stage in front of an audience.

When the guys from Pro-Pain entered the stage I think they already got a standing
ovation from the audience. This is what they were waiting for. Then it was time
for the band to prove themselves. What was fun to see is that the musicians
from both Zuul Fx and Demia were present in the audience checking out Pro-Pain.
There was a little circle pit, but those in it were quite aggressive and kept
it going to the last song.
A nice part from their performance to me was that the tourmanger, two band members
of Zuul Fx and one from Demia joined the band on stage at the chorus… walked
away to be back again at the chorus. It made clear the bands enjoyed this evening
and had fun while playing. It sounded nice as well, but the next song Yoav,
the singer from Demia joined Gary Meskil to sing one song together. This was
for me, the highlight of this evening. The growls from Yoav together with Gary
added that little something, and if that was not enough the band decided to
play some old songs as well, which they had not rehearsed for four years. The
audience seemed to love everything they did on stage. The band left half way,
according to me, the crowd did not seem content with this. It was simply way
too short and they screamed for more. Pro-Pain of course returned on the stage
for some more. A couple of songs later they disappeared again and the crowd
still wanted more.

For those people that stayed at the venue to dance on some tunes the party
did not stop. The bands were dancing around as well. Great fun on the dance
floor. A great way to end an evening.

Links:
Pro Pain Official
Demia Official
Zuul FX Official

Support: Demia, Zuul Fx; Venue: Bibelot, Dordrecht(Netherlands) By: Elvira Visser Zuul Fx was the first band to play this evening, and what many bands say about the Dutch audience they had to get them to move.
