\u00a0 Happiness is a Finnish band that just released their debut album \u201c66ft
\n\u00a0 Melodies\u201d in Finland on October 3rd. With this album they leave a clear
\n\u00a0 footprint behind. They make clear that music is not a joke to them and that
\n\u00a0 their song writing takes a serious note. The band likes to sing about topics
\n\u00a0 that make you think, but most of all they want (you) to have a good time.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0 The band consists of Alex Descargues (vocals), Mikko Pietinen (drums), Jussi
\n\u00a0 Korhonen (bass), Hans Hansen and Antti Er\u00e4kangas (both guitar). About their
\n\u00a0 own lyrics bass player Jussi says: \u201cSure some of our songs might be a bit
\n\u00a0 dark and there is weird stuff on our album and in the lyrics, but there is some
\n\u00a0 sick and weird stuff going on in the world as well\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 What I like about this band is that they do what they want to do, also musically
\n\u00a0 it seems that way. One song might be totally different from the next qua sound.
\n\u00a0 Their lyrics for \u201cNeed You\u201d can be seen as a bit naughty. The band
\n\u00a0 admit that there is quite some violent and sexual related content in their songs.
\n\u00a0 This makes you listen to the songs while nodding your head along to the nice
\n\u00a0 tunes. \u201cNeed You\u201d is also a song that is quite up-tempo and sticks
\n\u00a0 in the mind.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 After the more up tempo – and ska-ish songs, \u201cFeels Like Flesh\u201d surprisingly
\n\u00a0 starts a bit 80’s new wave but it changes throughout the whole song. The bass
\n\u00a0 guitar plays an important part in this song and at the end a rock-ish sound
\n\u00a0 and a different tempo comes in and takes over.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 Seems like we entered the world of the slower songs because the next is also
\n\u00a0 more slow and a little softer. \u201cEuphoria Skies\u201d which starts nicely
\n\u00a0 which a great lyric:
\n\u00a0 “It’s so annoying trying to be
\n\u00a0 Something that you can’t
\n\u00a0 Something that
\n\u00a0 you wanted to live…”
\n\u00a0 Haven’t we all been there? Didn’t someone wanted you to be something your not?
\n\u00a0 Think we can all relate to this.
\n\u00a0 Around the chorus you can hear an electronical tune, which reminds me of Muse.
\n\u00a0 Some of their songs might remind you of a band but it is difficult to compare
\n\u00a0 them.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 The 12 songs give you a varied reflection of what these guys stand for, in
\n\u00a0 one of the songs the more melodramatic and melancholic atmosphere is present,
\n\u00a0 the other has a ska-ish flavour to be followed with a song that would do good
\n\u00a0 at the Eurovision Song Contest. Might be the sing along chorus.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u201cHeadrest\u201d is my personal favourite of this album, it has a touch
\n\u00a0 of melancholy but does not get depressed, there is some background vocals which
\n\u00a0 fit this song. The ending of this track seems to fade in a harmonious choir,
\n\u00a0 but then the guitar effects are ending the song quite unexpectedly.
\n\u00a0 \u201cAnthem For The New Redeemer\u201d also has that darker style, maybe because
\n\u00a0 they are Scandinavian and they are grown up with these melancholic feelings,
\n\u00a0 they really know how to create this atmosphere in their songs. Still it does
\n\u00a0 not make the songs slow, dull and boring but they turn them into great songs
\n\u00a0 to listen to between the more up tempo and rock-ish songs.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 This varied album shows these guys are capable of a lot and this nice piece
\n\u00a0 of work makes me interested in seeing them live.<\/p>\n\n\n
