Seether is a post-grunge/alternative metal band from Pretoria, South Africa, formed in 1999. The band is currently signed to Wind-up Records. Originally named Saron Gas and signed to Musketeer Records in South Africa, they changed their name in 2002, coinciding with the release of their second album and major label debut, Disclaimer. They toured quite extensively through the years and the band is now up for their sixth release “2002 – 2013” which came about two years after their latest release.
As the title may suspect the South African rockers are releasing a collection album. Two disc with a total of 27 tracks are out and for the long-time fans there are some unique tracks added. Three demo tracks that have never been released before. But before those come by you first get an outstanding overview of what the band has done through the years. A commercial sound, but never compromising with themselves, never let the rock side get on ease. This comes forward even more in a collection like this were songs of their first releases are followed by their latest released songs.
But luckily the release of this album does not mean the band is going to quit. A new album is worked on and the dates of May 2014 are mentioned here and there as expected date for the release. Let’s hope that they will indeed come with that release, because for the fans the three new songs are absolutely not enough.
