Aestrid is a Dutch formation making pop/rock. Originally this was a solo project but nowadays it is full band, ready to conquer the world with their second full length release. “Box” is out now.
Mellow, dreamy atmospheres come from the start. A flirt with indie and an ‘e’ in the name added for the mystery. Well, does not really need a letter to define that mystery, the sound will do that job perfectly. The band has the ability to make something small grow out to something spacious, large almost immense but with a clear line that draws the fence, to here and no further obviously keeping it in control. To add some diversity in it all there are also some songs to be found where the bands take a step back from the intensity and let you come back to Zen. Good to see that the guys are bringing in those tracks as well. It remains interesting throughout and adds to the atmospheric side of them a little bit of vulnerability that suits them so well.
Simply said, Aestrid released an impressive album that has international allure. No ambitions should be too small for them they can reach a large audience with “Box”.
