Maxxwell – Slapshot

Releasedate: 2012; Label: Fastball music
By: Sabine van Gameren

The band Maxxwell has been releasing two albums so far and what seems to be the main story behind this EP the band is releasing now is the collaboration of the band and some ice hockey team. The song “Slapshot” was written as the official stadium hymn and now it is out as an EP.

A third full length release is coming up but the fans can warm up with this EP already. Hard Rock from Switzerland, the band has a typical sound you may expect, a bit commercial edge maybe but it suits them. It could have been more raw, but the guys like to give it a modern twist. That accompanied with a lot of energy makes that the EP listens easily. Then the guys added a couple of live tracks to the disc, which should give you an idea of what the guys bring live and and also another version of the track “Slapshot”.
If you like ice hockey or not the EP surely light up the spirits, no need to always associate the band with that even though it seem to be obvious. It sets a promise for the upcoming release which is expected in 2013.
