Munruthel is band from Ukraine that makes Pagan Metal since 1997. The band has released a bunch of records through the year and is now ready for a re-release of their 2006 album “Epoch of Aquarius”.
The band has new album planned for 2012 but now first re-releases this 2006 album to see if they could already introduce themselves to a larger audience. For fans that already know the band they added completely new artwork and covers of Dead Can Dance – “Black Sun” and Burzum’s “Tornhet”. The band created a very atmospheric album, that has plenty of great instrumental moments. Vocals come in various ways whatever suits at the moment. The addition of strings in the music makes it feel like it comes right out of a movie. This also strengthened by the various arrangements that come into the sound.
It is an interesting release for those who enjoy Pagan Metal, but it shows also the influences of other genres. It gives you a good idea of what to expect from the upcoming studio album called “CREEDamage” that will follow later this year. Just the covers were maybe not that much needed, the band’s own work gives plenty to enjoy instead.
