The Finnish band “To/Die/For” used to know better times when love-metal was on the top of rock scene. This time after quick break-up the band released the fifth album titled “Samsara”.
The etymology of the word “Samsara” describes it as circle of birth, live, death and rebirth. Obviously what the cover art supposed to be. There is no better word about music as “mediocre”, nothing new for your ears, no surprises. As gothic genre itself. A dark and pathetic trademark sound.
First of all, album is solid keyboards work and boring voice. But leave it and go further. The opening track is powerful as gulp of fresh air. Then Iggy Pop “Cry for love” cover. That’s no first cover in the band’s carrier. The cover exists on every album. What about self material. “Folie á Deux“ is wonderful lullaby with children chorus on refrain. Also “Someday Somewhere Somehow” would be mentioned as good sample. Written in memoriam the track provides power and immortal friendship. “Yet comes a day we’ll meet again// someday somewhere somehow”. Hope isn’t gone. The most dynamic track is “Hail Of Bullets”. That’s obvious why. The track “Oblivion: Vision” with hissing lyrics brought to the album mysterious notes.
If you are in melancholic mood that’s brilliant album for you. If you aren’t then you’ll necessary turn in this condition.
