Grabak is a Black Metal formation from Leipzich. The band started in 1995 and their fifth album called “SIN” is out now.
Grabak comes with a concept album all concerning the seven sins accompanied by an prologue and epilogue. Within these songs you feel the cold atmosphere, setting the band into a quite extreme light. The tempo seems quite nice, mainly mid tempo and the most deadliest sin may be the addition of female vocals when not really needed. Messes up the whole atmosphere. Also the sins seem not be that far from each other, feeling they are made of the same template. The actual idea comes quite well, but a little more variation in it would have done a lot for them. Maybe this sinning theme was not that original either. The positive points in this album are to be found the vocals though, those are attracting the listener and set the atmosphere back to where it was. “SIN” is an album that may split up listeners. As much as you dislike those femme voices in here, it’s likely that there is a group out there that adores it. The band could probably try to play around a little more with the songs to create a more variable result for the next one.
