Suncraft, the Norway-located sample of Scandirock, founded in 2017 and debuted with album in 2021. Technically released the second album last November, the band holds afterword. So, this April the second chance to everyone unbox the red/black vinyl version of Welcome To The Coven, if only missed it in any occasions. 

“Turbonegro meets Venom” sounded so promising, but no sign of both mentioned creatures. The eight-track record offers kinda experimental stuff, combining stoner with proto rock and using even sludge elements. Let’s dive deeper to tracks.

All the rage concentrates on the opener “Ragebait” literally. Then flame fade away shifting to stoner core in “Love’s Underrated”. Meanwhile the pure stoner arises in “Greed Battalion”, “Welcome to the Coven” intentionally merges with post-punk. You can call me old-fashioned, but my favorite is 60-s shaped “Wizards of the Anger Magic”, as The Stooges welcome with intro. Well balanced, edgy enough. Rock-polished closer “Forgotten Goddess” has fussy instrumental passages, worth-listening, hopefully, there was no hell bell in the end.

This type of music I call “meta-genred” (in the metamodern era), and this time it’s disproportional. The material is so fragmental, than can’t be stitched. I really like random parts but not the general picture.
