Khors – Return to Abandoned

Releasedate: 14-12-2010; Label: Paragon Records
By: Sabine van Gameren

Khors is a band from Ukraine. They started their band in 2004 and they make Pagan Black Metal. “Return to Abandoned” is the fourth full length release of them.

Anno 2010 the band introduced a new vocalist to the band. His name is Jurgis and he is ready to set his stamp on the sound of Khors. After the release of their previous album the band also embraced a new guitarist and so come that his album has a new fresh face, and leaves the fans up in expectations. Well when it comes to these new musicians, it must be said they are not a bad choice for the band. Guitars are giving an interesting add to the music, but the further you come at the track list, the more the typical Pagan elements fade away. It is not stereotypical Black Metal either. An interesting experiment by these guys. The band shown some good musicianship, well composed songs and plenty of variety. It is surprising to hear that acoustic elements work out so well within their sound and overall they have delivered a good album. You could place them perfectly in line with bands like Before the Dawn even though they are not exactly alike. They have the same way of using the vocals and guitars in their advance within the music. One you will keep on listening for a while, one that should be on your Christmas wish list.
