My Chemical Romance – Danger Days: True Lives of The Fabulous Killjoys

Releasedate: 22-11-2010; Label: Warner/ Reprise
By: Nina Mende

My Chemical Romance is an American rock band from New Jersey, formed in 2001. The band consists of lead vocalist Gerard Way, guitarists Ray Toro and Frank Iero, and bassist Mikey Way. Shortly after forming, the band signed to Eyeball Records and released their debut album I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love in 2002. They signed with Reprise Records the next year and released their major label debut Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge in 2004; the album was a commercial success, and was awarded platinum status a little over a year later. The band eclipsed their previous success with their 2006 concept album, The Black Parade, which gained generally favorable reviews among music critics.

Their fourth studio album “Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys”, is out now. Buried underneath a stack of to do’s I first did not give it too much attention and expected yet another emo album, sounding all dark and stuff. Up until a friend told me otherwise. Ever since then I am hooked. My Chemical Romance’s new release “Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys” is catchier than ever and the happiest album they have ever made! All songs, and I mean all, are extremely catchy. Even the intro with “Look Alive Sunshine” pops up in your head out of the blue and makes you smile! The na-na song might seem quite annoying at first when you hear it all over the radio and MTV, but give it a try. Along with “Bulletproof Heart”, “Sing” or “Planetary (GO!)” as follow-up tracks, “Na Na Na (Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na)” will not only become bearable but also loveable and, I promise, you will catch yourself going to this song in particular and press the re-play button! Guaranteed! In a way “Danger Days: True Lives of The Fabulous Killjoys” brainwashes you to a certain extend. How? I am not telling you. But it does indeed. “SING” is a very significant song, which gets even more power over your mind after you watched the video to it. Impressive how My Chemical Romance have changed ever since “Helena”. And in particular on this album. Personally, my favorite song on the album is “Planetary (GO!)” because of it’s really catchy sound. “Bulletproof Heart” is very amazing too though. This album does not have ten or twelve tracks, no. “Danger Days: True Lives of The Fabulous Killjoys” has fifteen tracks, each one better than the one before! And back. Somehow this album sounds a little bit like a circus soundtrack, but is actually pretty serious. This album makes you want to dance and jump along, but also cry after you listened closely. A masterpiece unlike anything I have ever come across before. Credits go to My Chemical Romance – and my dear friend that made me aware of the awesomeness of the album. The booklet is pure artwork itself. I won’t tell you any more about it, because this is for you to explore on your own. So get “Danger Days: True Lives of The Fabulous Killjoys” now and keep running! My Chemical Romance is back, this time in color!
