Label: Heavy Psych Sounds Releasedate: 12th of June
The US-rockers Geezer marked their experience for ten years jamming as cosmic stoner blues. The lovemark of the band is album titles like Electrically Recorded Handmade Heavy Blues and Psychoriffadelia. The simply elegant pick for the fourth release – Groovy– is out now.
The stoner trio learnt all the bluesy canons by heart and represented the best parts of it. Absorbing the good and bad nuances, the band didn’t miss the main principle of the genre: gravitation is nothing. The bass line of the starter Dig involved in the adventurous journey. Diving into void deeper from track to track only one pick point differs – Groovy song. It’s joyful, lucid and, yes, groovy. Touch of keyboards, classic construction of melody and you want to repeat it one more time. On this trip you can attend peaceful cosmic lullaby Slide Mountain and impressive formulaic Atlas Electra (don’t confuse with Cloud Atlas, however the mystic vibes suit both).
Attending the band self-determination, sum of three components is pretty clear. Cosmic – yes, stoner – double yes – and blues – from time to time. The reaction for the new Geezer album may be different: some would clap, other – hiss. But all that doesn’t matter. You like stoner rock or don’t.
