MalefistuM – Enemy

A brand new project called MalefistuM started by guitarist Jens Faber of Dawn of Destiny is seeking light. Formed in 2019 and releasing a debut this year. The album is called “Enemy” and is available now.

On the majority of the vocal duties we have another known name. Melissa Bonny, of bands like Serenity and Warkings is on board. After an intro we get into the record quite strong. No time left to waste because instantly you see what MalefistuM is gonna bring you. Symphonic Metal versus Power Metal with a growl to give it some vehemence. In ‘The Answer’ is Eric Dow bringing in his voice, a nice addition as well. But, what truly unites the album is the founding member’s contribution. Jens is like a shepherd in his project, keeping the whole together. For example in “This Memory” there is great role for Jens and are the vocals not that much of a key element as you would expect at first.

For the variation there are some softer sounds available. Ballad “Fear of Tomorrow” shows a different side of the project and although it may be a bit cliché it does suit with the rest of the album.

Jens has given the listeners of Symphonic Metal an album to enjoy. It has some surprising turns here and there but does not stray too far from it all. “Enemy” surely puts MalefistuM on the map.
