Love Amongst Ruin is Stephen Hewitt’s new band since he left Placebo. After a lot of work of they finally have their self titled debut album out now with which they will be touring in fall 2010.
Love Amongst Ruin is an indie rock bands that digs to deeper levels of your mind. The melodies are catchy and the lyrics are great to think about. Some songs are a little psychedelic. The easy choruses get stuck in your head quickly. “Truth” is a very emotional song and very touchy. Love Amongst Ruin is far away from what Placebo was, yet somehow just as thoughtful and different. The cover for example shows dying roses in front of a pale wall. The roses are not quite dead yet but not really alive anymore either. Somewhere in between, just like the music. Hard to put a finger on, more or less floating bin between, lust like a love amongst ruin. The first single “So Sad (Fade)” also opens the album where as a very slow song called “Love Song” closes the album with it’s ten tracks. This album is a great debut album for Love Amongst Ruin, leaving many doors open and probably even opening some as well. For now I am very excited how the band will be live, but Europe will find that out in September and October. Check the tour dates and check out Love Amongst Ruin. To be continued…
