The Norwegian band Kampfar is back from being quiet for a while. At first it seemed they were done forever, but a new record called “Ofidians Manifest” is made and it releases May 5th.
Getting back after a while can be exciting for the fans, the guys took their time to work on it without pressure and that seemed to be a good thing here. The album is giving you good riffs from the start, a confidential sound that seem to have developed into an even steadier sound. This is album number eight so the fact the guys keep the growing line in it is a plus.
What really
surprised us, and yet doesn’t, is the song
“Dominans” where Djerv vocalist
Agnete is singing along. Many got to know here from a collaboration with Dimmu
Borgir, but in this track it seems to work out even more. The song just works.
Song “Skamløs!” is one that jumps out also, the song is quite bold, in your
face. This is one we can see scoring high in live performances.
The cleaner vocals are becoming more in quantity, but not overtaking a spotlight position. The band keeps a balance in it, which shows the attention they put in the production of the release.
Altogether we can say we are very satisfied with this release. Kampfar proves once again to be a band you can count on for quality and we expect this release to played quite a while during this year. Worth the investment!
