The Psycho Season – Grunge River

The rock formation from northern part of the world – Oulu, Finland – showed with “Grunge river” album this November.

The first round of listening strongly reminds of “Alice in chains” (except “We die young”, it’s original song of the mentioned band). It’s everything you must know about the band basically. There was touch of disappointment when you expected more than copying someone style and more psychedelic and even stoner vibes. But we have what we have so let see more deeper inside the box with title “Grunge river”. There are no key tracks. Well, the whole picture presented you path where dissonance fading to the end of the album and after “By The River” you can hear harmony in every track. The grunge style describes sometimes as nihilistic sound but on this case emptiness and depression surrounded too tight so you can’t breathe. The lyrics are also on the style believing in something optimistic despite everything dark and dull. You can like refrain “All we have is now” in “Don’t Know About Tomorrow”, “We are free now” – in “You are the sun”. The most pleasant for ears tracks are “Drown”, “One with the stars”, “Sky in smoke” and “Hangin’ on”. But vocal all the time weak so I warned you.

Note to yourselves: never read the press sheets about any kind of bands. There is mention of bunch of genres that not familiar what band did. When you try to find worthy things in the category “stoner rock” you denied loads of various materials attempting to play something like desert metal. Pity, this time all the same.
