[schema type=”review” name=”Afire – On The Road To Nowhere” description=”Label: Concorde Music Company” author=”Sabine van Gameren” pubdate=”2018-11-16″ ]Afire is a brand new formation from Finland. Some familiar faces are to be found in the line up, Guitarists Antti Leiviskä and Sami Kukkohovi are accompanied by drummer Tarmo Kanerva and Bassist Harri Halonen. The band is fronted by Suvi Hiltunen. After receiving a self titled EP earlier this year they are now releasing their debut full length album “On The Road To Nowhere”.
The band opens the album with “The One To Take The Fall” which was also to be found on the EP. It is a quite straightforward song that sets the feeling straight, so a smart choice to bring this one back to the full length album, ready to reach a wider audience.
The band continuous with “Not Coming Home” which is catchy and also holding some thrilling riffs, the guitargods are serving you well on this album. In the slower songs that the are also found on the album the band must be careful that the listener is not going to loose interest. But the band skilfully switches back and forth, so we are still with them at the end. Listen for example to “Veiling The Tears” which has a daring start, an invitational flirt that leads towards a catchy yet heavy rocktune.
The songs on the release are in good line with eachother and have a good dose of catchiness. It is a logical follow up of their EP and for those who missed that, these tracks are all on this album to find.
