Industrial Black Metal formation Trollheims Grott has been active since 1997. This year the band releases their third full length album called “Aligned with the True Death”.
It has been about 15 years since the band released an album last. While taking their time for this release the expectations grew high, so looking into it is something we looked forward to. Vehemently they start their album off, drums quite upfront driving their mania. Guitars sneak into the battle of the drums and the vocals to demand a part of the whole and when they have their chance the whole is dynamically morphing into a sound that is overwhelming to one who does not have liking for this type of music, but feeds the hungry souls of those who appreciate it.
The band excels in finding a good balance. They have the traditional Black Metal on one side, but have the year 2018 in mind just as much. Vocalist sg 7. is impressive in putting down a haunting atmosphere with his words and with the instrumental parts giving you a highlight when he is allowing it you can feel the power of its vibrant atmosphere.
Dissonance, chaos, extremity, aggression and everything you need to feel alive with the band’s music. It is Trollheim’s Grott as you know it, but anno 2018. Hopefully the band will remain active as this release is easily convincing. One true highlight this year.
