Laurence Jones is a Bluesartists from UK. He released his album “The Truth” recently. It is his fifth full length album.
So, this album is a bluesalbum, but is has a quite open approach a bit of pop and singer songwriter touch are not kept from this music which makes it easy to identify yourself with it. Two songs, and you have the full feel of what the album brings. The catchiness is the main source of that. And the lyrics are not to hard to get an hold on either. Then, must be said that half way the album you wonder if the rest is gonna be significantly different, for the songs have a bit alike. But good, here and there Laurence surprises us a bit. Unfortunately, it is not sticking out any more over what you have heard before. A pity, for you feel there could have been so much more into this. Laurens Jones should maybe challenge himself a bit more, to stray a bit further from the familiar feel and have no fear for experimenting.
The album is pleasant, but does not stick out enough to be remembered long. It’s ok for in your collection, but it may be forgotten a bit too easily.
