[schema type=”review” name=”Alwaid – The Machine and The Beast” description=”Label: Valkyrie Rising” author=”Sabine van Gameren” pubdate=”2018-03-25″ ]Alwaid is a ‘female fronted’ band From France. The band released their debut in 2014 and anno 2018 they return with a follow up. “The Machine and The Beast” is available now.
The band thought well of what they want to bring and they created a concept for the album, one story that has been told before, but can be seen in so many variations that humanity keeps their interest on it. The start of life and the end of it.
Marie Perrier as a vocalist is a lady that draws one interest. Where loads of these ladies become a bit alike, Marie has a bit of her own included, just that bit extra that makes it worth listening to. On a song like “The Whale” you can hear her shining bright, but not taking the spotlight of the rest of the band, it sounds well as a whole. A powerful backing is there so to say, vehement guitars are setting the whole up in a quite energetic playfield.
Towards the end the album appears to be a bit darker and heavier but never loses touch with the first couple of song on the album. Overall the album is quite diverse which gives you different sides of the band. For the story it makes sense to have it this way.
“The Machine and The Beast” is an absolute fine album. For symphonic metal fans it is recommended to give this one a go!
