Paara – Riitti

Now the guys are having a new release ready for the world. It is called “Riitti” and is available from February 9th.

The album gives you four songs, but keep you listening for over 40 minutes. The amazing performance is still very much in mind and so we were beyond thrilled to have this release waiting for us. The band starts the album calm with dark and gloomy atmosphere to slowly get into a more heavier environment. The band has melodic part that is driving the whole. Tension building goes sometimes rather slow and plays with your mind, but because of the elements the band puts in it, the frustration does not follow, you keep listening to these tiny details that they put in, they manage to keep you entertained. With female vocals the band brings in some unique part that defines them. This is not just another one of the many Black Metal bands out there, but a band that puts their own face and identity in it. a rather unique touch that we like.
Then you arrive at the point where the tempo gets a bit more fanatic. The passion comes across and while the band never goes full rage in there, the blend of elements highlights the atmosphere. Sure some tricks from other genres come in, a wise decision, for it messes with all logic. With Paara 1+1 is not 2, but way more than that! A leverage that makes this album the great success it is.

Good. It is only January and these guys have not only won our hearts with last years show but with this release made themselves a high candidate for album of the year. Oh boy, other bands have got to step it up if they want to level this. I can’t even remember the last time I got so enthusiastic about a release, well done!
