The band released their album “Memories” and the single “The Beast Within” recently.
This “Memories” is a release that contains covers. It starts with “The Final Coutdown”. Which we think isinteresting to begin with, as most would end with it. The band explores their love for the past also with covers of Ronnie James Dio, Lita Ford/Ozzy Osbourne, Daniel Dee Snider and Doro. It’s an interesting way to getting to know a band, these covers are done well, but do not really give much of what the band wants to do themselves. What would happen if we get something 100% Scarlet Aura? So let’s take that single then.
“The Beast Within” is written by Aura and Mihai and a bit heavier than the covers we heard before. It suits them well. The song has a low tempo and perhaps does not showcase the best parts of Aura’s voice, which she showed to have in the covers. These strengths she does not bring forward here, a pity. But the combination with the male vocals are quite a win. Altogether I wonder what the band would end up with if they have a super melodic Heavy Metal song of their own, tha bit more uptempo and catchy as hell. Like the songs they loved to cover.
Scarlett Aura has some interesting releases, but seem to be a bit searching for what defines them and bring that together in their own work. The albums do give us high hopes for live shows, we think that would be a great party!
