Hacktivist – Overthrone

[schema type=”review” name=”Hacktivist – Overthrone” description=”Label: UNFD” author=”Sabine van Gameren” pubdate=”2016-12-09″ ]Earlier this year the band Hacktivist came with a brand new full length but that was not all the guys had to give. A new EP was recorded and came as a surprise. “Over-throne” is out now.

Hiphop/Metal crossover is something that can cause a wide divide in opinions, but Hacktivist is the kind of band that sticks out immensely and have gained plenty of attention in the past year. It’s good to see this band bringing this EP to the fans, the many they gained during their tours this year.
What makes this EP such a success in follow to that album is the intensity that they keep coming with. The music has some mean riffage in there, not letting it be a main attraction when the vocals are there telling the story, but when the words are not there they make this immense welcoming support and dare to take that shine as well. And then the vocals which are truly an important to this music, the guys take no notice to whatever could be hold against them and tell you straightforward what they want to say, no need to hide behind mystery or fancying it up, it’s honest and right in your face.
“Over-throne” is an EP that stands as much on its own as their album, but yet goes on where the other left off. What it does is making you hungry for more. Hacktivist is surely something we hope to hear a whole lot more about.
