Tenebrae In Perpetuum – L'Eterno Maligno Silenzio

Releasedate: 25-09-2009; Label: Debemur Morti
By: Sabine van Gameren

Tenebrae In Perpetuum is an Italian Black Metal act. Recently they released their third full length album “L’Eterno Maligno Silenzio”

To be honest, this release is not the best I have had, in fact this release is a collection of random chaos, not meaning chaos as a compliment. Eight songs, only a thin connection to each other. Black Metal stereotype is all over it, originality is far to be found. It feels like this has been done before hundreds of times and much better also. Riffs that go back to the mid 90’s where an attempt is made to be a bit different but anno 2009 it just isn’t different at all. Vocal wise you are listening to Italian lyrics, but get only outstanding when a cleaner voice comes in. Overall it sounds a bit minimalistic and this has mainly to do with the production that makes the music become distance from its origin. If there is a highlight to mention, it will be the third song “Dissoluzione An Preghiera” which has a decent rhythm. Too bad that even here, as well as in all other songs and the whole album, the transitions between different parts are far from smooth and flattering to the genre.

Tenebrae In Perpetuum could have make some more of this with a little more originality , even when there was chosen for an old school atmosphere.
