Kesselhaus in Wiesbaden is one of the smaller side venues of Schlachthof. Brand new and well equipped. And tonight, Kesselhaus was packed. People were standing in the doorway, taking a look inside but had no room to go inside. The venue warmed up quickly and got very humid. And this was only the beginning.

Now, you wonder, what was going on here tonight? Well, Funeral For A Friend are currently on their farewell tour. And tonight – as well as the following night – the band hit Wiesbaden to play two of their albums in whole: “Hours” – which was tonight – and “Casually Dressed”. We were in it for “Hours” only. Funeral For A Friend took along two bands. Shai Hulud and Zoax. Zoax was opening the night and got the audience and venue warmed up quite a bit.

Shai HuludThen Shai Hulud entered the stage. Shai Hulud is a hardcore band from Florida that has been making music since 1995. So quite a while. And tonight, they played in front of all these Funeral For A Friend fans. Fast and thriving music got everyone moving along. The band played with the audience. The singer even lent his hat to a girl in the audience.

One of the last songs of Shai Hulud was a Scorpion cover: “Rock You Like A Hurricane” in their very own interpretation. The crowd was moving along, rocking and moshing. For the very last song the singer jumped up onto a high speaker on the side of the stage and lastet there. What an intense show. Shai Hulud

Funeral For A FriendTime for the main act of the night: Funeral For A Friend. After fifteen years, Funeral For A Friend call it quit. From pioneers of the British rock scene, Funeral For A Friend had influence tons of bands and fans, had released various albums. This is their final tour. Tonight they played their album “Hours” in full length.

The fans in the packed venue were eager to see Funeral For A Friend. Sad to see them leave. As the band entered the stage, the fans were cheering loud. But the Brits first set some ground rules: Have Fun! Don’t Cry! Have Fun! Cry if you need to! And last but not least: Be safe and take care of each other. Pick them up instead of pushing them around.

As this was said and accepted by the audience, the band began their show. The audience was going wild. Everyone was clapping and moving along to the songs. Singing out loud, sometimes even louder than the band themselves. And the band enjoyed it. Animating the audience to go along even more. No one was standing still. And it was getting even warmer in the venue. Soon everyone was soaked in sweat. But happy. The singer let the audience sing a couple parts. And they shouted their souls out.

It was a brilliant performance of “Hours”. Passionate and thriving. Everyone had a wonderful night. Satisfied but a little sad, most visitors of tonight would also be there for the second night when Funeral For A Friend plays “Casually Dressed”.
