Symphonic/gothic metal band “The Fall Of Eve” from Scotland has released their debut album “Eternal Embrace” recently that has 10 beautiful tracks in it.The Fall of Eve has an EP named “Calls From The Horizon” back from 2013. Being a fan of the female-fronted metal genre, I was immensely pleased to hear this band’s music. Some critics mentioned that the band kind of calls to mind Delain’s early albums, but for some reason I was immediately reminded of Evanescence’s debut album which contains the band’s biggest hits “Fallen”. Not in terms of the vocals but definitely in terms of melodies, riffs, choirs and symphonic arrangements.
Vocalist Evangeline’s vocals are angelically soprano and semi-operatic. Melodic aspect of the album pulls you in at once. The tracks have presented, in the least of sense, a very delightful rotation for me. I have many favorites off the “Eternal Embrace”, starting with the opener “Under My Skin”, “Our Salvation” and “Destiny”. Lyrically, the album takes you on a journey of love, hope, and heartbreak. Not in that specific order though. I was more hooked on the upbeat tracks like “Fall From Paradise” with a catchy melody and chorus, but still sentimental nevertheless. Sadly, ballad-like tracks grew on me less than the other up-tempo ones. Although, Evangeline’s voice is as impressive in those slow atmospheric tracks. But maybe it’s just me that currently I’m in a mood of needing to hear songs in the more upbeat vein.
If you are a female-fronted metal fan in general, you just gotta check “Eternal Embrace” out. The Fall of Eve will perform in many European metal gigs/festivals hopefully including the one and only “Metal Female Voices Fest (tba – they definitely deserve to be a part of MFVF this year)”, so make sure to check them out live there, as well!
