Machinae is a Finnish formation making Melodic metal. They have been active for about a year now and release their debut full length late 2015. “Clockwork” is out now.
There are a couple things to say about this album, that makes it a bit standing behind of what it could have been. Not the nicest message to bring, but we got to stay fair. The production is not really strong. A bit dusty, they are not highlighting anything. It’s simply too flat. Then, the songs the band makes are not really bringing much new. They all sound like we have heard it before, in better version. We miss a bit of Machinae self in there. They seem quite close to their influences, but perhaps they need a bit more originality in there.
Things we did like about the album are the vocals. Just a slight bit of identity in there. Perhaps they could exploit that a little more in a future release. Then also a little more passion into it and the album would be quite pleasant to listen to.
Altogether “Clockwork” just not got it yet. They came fast with a debut and had perhaps some time needed to grow.
