Coraxo is a Finnish band making Electronic Death Metal. The band is based in Tampere and is formed in September 2013. Last year they came with an EP called “Starlit Flame” and this year they are ready for the release of their full length album called “Neptune”.
Avant-garde Death Metal. Space. Science Fiction. That’s the key elements the band use to subscribe their music and in the previous release we could strongly agree with that, but with this new one of them their approach have widened. It blackened a bit here and there, not drifting too far of where they were but surely taking their whole sound a bit more into depth. The intro and the final track of this release are different from the whole, a dreamy surrounding for what is into the album to be found with words and more power. The album is not a complete unity, some songs stand a bit apart, but it is not causing irritation for the connection is there. Some familiar tracks pass by, re-recorded to fit with what the guys are up to now but still you can witness the evolving of their sound with it.
“Neptune” is an album that has a lot of interesting parts. The band is however refining themselves and this release is showing that process. Therefore you must not expect the whole to be one story to come out as strong as it could be but seeing where they come from and what direction they are taking it now it something that makes it worth getting it. With this journey documented, we are looking forward what will be next.
