Vanden Plas is a German formation making Progressive Metal. They originally founded in the 80’s and released a bunch of albums since. “Chronicles of the Immortals: Netherworld II” is number ten in line and it is out now.

Of course listening to an album of which the concept had already a part one and you missed is always interesting. Can you pick it up anyway, or do you feel something is missing? Well from what we can say about this: Don’t worry, it is ok to give this one a chance first. The album is well thought and comes with the sound of Vanden Plas. Some unique look is always a winner and these guys are winning it for their putting their symphonic parts in such a nice place in their mix that it does not overkill the power that is behind it but supports it big time. Then, here and there they may go overboard a bit with bringing the show off a bit too much forward, but if you learn to be patient with it, it won’t bother you much anymore.

“Chronicles of the Immortals: Netherworld II” is a stable release with interesting moments, the band knows very well what they want and are not do too much windowdressing. A fair album that stands on its own.
