Alien Syndrome 777 is a formation from Italy. They are active since 2007 and make avant-garde Black Metal. This year a debut album sees light, it is called “Outer” and is out now.

It is a remarkable release, for Avant-garde even. The music is science fiction themed and although the debut has seven tracks it is not really a long release. All can be said in about 30 minutes according the band and so “Outer” is a compact way of spreading their music. With some effects included they sometimes limit themselves a bit, it could be quite massive when recorded with a bit more instruments, that is where they cut themselves short. What is to like is that they are getting some inspiration from classic Black Metal pieces which gives it a great twist in the Black Metal direct and let their Avant-garde not be the main part of it. With this they will find their fanbase growing with those who are more into the tradition Black Metal as well as those who enjoy listening to an organic piece of music with a lot of effects in it.

“Outer” could have had a couple more songs. It is a rather short experience which is pleasant enough, but maybe ending a bit too soon. Perhaps they have more upcoming, we will await.
