Quill is British formation that makes a mix of Country, Folk and Rock. They recently lost one of their band members but managed to finish the album and do a little tribute to him. “Brush With The Moon” is out now.

The sound of the band is quite melancholic, it is not hard to get into their sound from the first spin. The lyrics are perhaps a bit dreamy and it may be fair to say that you have to be in the mood for it as the whole album thrives on this. Now this may be a bit where the pain is. A bit more variation in that would have benefit this release. A powersong maybe, or simply a different approach. Now it feels a bit like the songs are much alike and that does not keep the attention of the listener through the whole tracklist. If you take the songs apart, away from the rest, they are not that bad. Plenty to hear and the lyrics have something to say.

Most remarkable of the release is the artwork, made by the passed away bassist Ben and his daughter Jenna. It must be quite a challenge to finish an album this way but the band got it done. Perhaps things could have been done different but it is nice that it is here now as a tribute.
