May day is a holiday in Germany, and a day when the youth gets together drinking, camping and having a good time. So to end such a great days with friends they all came out to the Batschkapp in Frankfurt to rock out to the music of the great Millencolin. As opening act Millencolin had invited Bombshell Rocks to come out with them. Bombshell Rocks is a band that was founded in 1995, in Västerås, Sweden. The band has a rocky history including a breakup for about a decade and had just gotten back together a few years back, so it was even more special that the guys performed here tonight as opening act for Millencolin. Dressed in Rock’n’Roll the guys of Bombshell Rocks reminded a little bit of Social Distortion. During their forty minute set Bombshell Rocks proved, that they did not only have the looks of Rock’n’Roll, but also the skills to play rock and got the venue shouting along, dancing and cheering out big time after each song. Some fans in the front row even sang louder than the singer himself at some parts. The voice was smokey and loud, the guitars played catchy melodies and infected the people with good vibes. Some songs had a familiar sound. You could tell the guys had fun on stage and the audience thanked them with big applause.

After a quick change over the punk rock legend Millencolin entered the stage to rock the masses. Quite some girls had entered the front rows. Most of them were wearing band shirts of the guys. Millencolin is a punk rock band that was formed in October 1992 by Nikola Sarcevic, Mathias Färm, and Erik Ohlsson in Örebro, Sweden. In early 1993, drummer Fredrik Larzon joined the band. The name Millencolin is derived from the skateboard trick “melancholy”. With a huge backdrop behind the drums and lots of energy the guys entered the stage and took over the venue. Their set of about ninety minutes included far more than twenty songs and lots of talking with the audience. The fans totally appreciated the close interaction between band and audience. The Swedes played old songs and new songs that will be on the upcoming album, including all their hits. The fans went insane, shouting along to the catchy choruses and songs, dancing and moshing to the thriving punk music of Millencolin. Everyone was having a blast. The guitar player jumped around all over the stage, getting close to his band members while playing and posed for his fans, animating them to jump along as well. It was a beautiful show with lots of energy and passion the guys shared with their fans. Always a pleasure seeing Millencolin live. Until then, keep your ears open for the new album that is yet to be released.
