Hasse Fröberg & Musical Companion – HFMC

Hasse Fröberg & Musical Companion – HFMC

Releasedate: ; Label: Glassville Records
By: Sabine van Gameren

Hasse Fröberg is a Prog musician that we know from The Flower Kings. The Swedish artist have been working on this second band when The Flower Kings had decided to take a break. Anno 2015 he is ready to release “HFMC”.

The album comes with a classical touch. A very open sound that can easily transfer one into a dreamy world. Some guitarsolo’s are there, but not based on showing off too much, it has its proper purpose in the music. The vocals are giving the whole a warm touch, telling not only the story of the album, but are keeping you with it, because it is a fact that songs are often long-stretched and maybe it demands a lot of one’s attention to stay with him the whole time when those were not giving a warm edge to the sound. But enough said about these, because there is so much more that stands out in the release. The synths included in this release are surprising and are also a key element in the sound.

Not much to remark on this release. As proggy as it is, the songs tend to be long which makes this album one for progressive fans and not really much creating a bridge to other fans of other genre’s that much. But within its genre it will be one that is deeply appreciated for its smart compositions that embrace each element and make it come out together as a strong piece as well.
