Ufly – Love Smugglers

Releasedate: 2014; Label: My Music Group
By: Sabine van Gameren

The Polish formation Ufly makes Alternative Rock and managed to get their name out. Playing several shows in Europe and a new album out witness that. “Love Smugglers” got released at the end of 2014.

The album is full of somewhat dark and mellow songs. Alternative and slow, but not too far from the ideology of Manic Street Preachers even though the Polish guys keep it a bit calmer. What is the greatest point of the release is easy to find. The vocals are brought with a whole lot of passion and that makes the songs vibrant and alive. Perhaps a bit of an intimate feeling is over it, imagine a small concert hall and these songs will make your night one to remember.
A little remark to make is that within the tracklist you will not find a huge variety in the songs. It is enough to keep you interested, but the songs seem to come from the same concept and there may be a little trap hidden for the band.
Luckily “Love Smugglers” ends at the right time, so that these eleven songs remain a lovely and dreamy experience of the day. It is an album that listens pleasantly and you will certainly keep playing for a while.
