American Heritage – Prolapse

Releasedate: 01-12-2014; Label: Solar Flare
By: Sabine van Gameren

American Heritage is a formation from USA that has been around since 1997. They make a combination of Hardcore and Sludge Metal which came to releases like “Why Everyone Gets Cancer” or “We Will Pay You $125 to Observe You Deteriorate”. Nowadays the band comes with a bit shorter titles and this year it is “Prolapse” that got out.

So names are a bit shorter, but the band never lost their critical note. The band rages on with what they are up for but it must be said that this is the last release with Adamn Norden, who left the band behind, so for the fans it will turn into a collector’s item. For those who have not heard the band before, you may find the beauty of their sound in the strong ongoing energy that comes from it. No mercy, it goes on strong from the beginning to the end. Instrumentally the band builds up the energy towards an outburst and then vocals come in to highlight it, but maybe the vocals are not the strongest part of the band. Where guitars and drums combine they make up an interesting play field that is interesting to listen to and draws most of the attention.

Altogether the release is interesting enough. Sad to hear the vocals fell off, but with the input of the other members it is not unthinking the guys keep it up. Maybe even instrumental.
