A Sunday night and Hardcore Superstar was calling. Sure did we follow the call and came. Hardcore Superstar is a hard rock band from Gothenburg, Sweden. The band was formed in 1997 and continue on today. Hardcore Superstar have had several number one hit singles, and Grammy wins in Sweden. With nine studio albums out and one in the pipeline, ready to be released early next year, Hardcore Superstar was on the road supporting Gotthard.

The venue was medium sized and quite crowded. Not many came for Hardcore Superstar tonight, but almost all got convinced of their performance. Playing for about forty-five minutes in dim light, the Swedish four piece gave everything. Passionate and empowered they took over the stage, moving back and forth. The singer Jocke even got up close with the friends, climbing up the barriers and going down into the pit.

Playing some of their long time hits, as well as their brand new single “Glue” from their upcoming album they got a bunch of people to sing and dance along. The few fans in the audience went crazy during the performance, dancing along big time, mashing at times and shouting out loud they made themselves heard and the band happier. You could tell the band highly appreciated it. The cheering got louder after each song until it did not want to stop after their last songs. And that was the moment where band and audience did not want to part. Unfortunately they had to eventually. Playing catchy songs like “Dreaming in a Casket”, “We Don’t Celebrate Sundays”, “Last Call For Alcohol” and even an acoustic piece like “Run to Your Mama” Hardcore Superstar got the middle aged audience on their side, got them enjoying the show. And with the songs Hardcore Superstar picked for these forty-five minutes they showed the whole range of songs they had to offer and gave a pretty good idea of what a full set of a Hardcore Superstar show would be like. It was a real pity that the show was so short. But I am sure that once the new album is out, the guys will come back for a headline tour. So keep your eyes and ears open for what is yet to come.
