Machinery Of Joy – On The Verge Of Sleep

Releasedate: 15-09-2014; Label: Target Group
By: Sabine van Gameren

From Copenhagen they are, Machinery Of Joy. They make some Psychedelic music which may come with a whole lot of other genrelabels as well. In 2011 the band came with a debut EP and now we received a full length album from their hands.

Calm, electric and dreamy music is what comes to you when you start listening this release. It does not really come with a happy note, so best to keep this album for the drowsy autumn afternoons while having a nice cup of tea in your hands and you can dream off with the sounds of the Danish.
The vocals are coming from a lady with a quite clear voice, but no positivity can come from it. “You wanna die…” she repeatingly sings. Yes, that may be the feeling that comes with it. The instrumental part is giving the whole a hypnotizing surrounding and although it is not really too wild they sometimes break it out a bit more which just makes it a little more interesting.

Is this album really one you should listen? Well yes, it has a bunch of interesting songs on it, but it is simply not an album you want to listen at any time. You have to be in the mood for it and then you will enjoy.
