Pord – Wild

Releasedate: Sept 2014; Label: Solar Flare
By: Sabine van Gameren

Pord is a Noise Rock formation from France. The trio seemed to have released one LP and some small releases prior to the new record called “Wild” which released recently.

In the way the band brings their music it immediately reminded me to the band Megasus which self-titled released can’t ever disappear in my collection for it is still on rotation after many years. Goods signs for that I would say and where the two meet is in it heaviness combined with a catchiness that you did not see coming. Their driving music easily puts you on a rollercoaster trip into ecstasy and captivates you. The vocals are not really much of a need, but a good addition here and there to make the whole a little more “Wild”. Yet it is the guitars that lets you lose control over your thoughts and take you along. The band does not hold back on some complexity which causes you to keep your full attention with them, all within the lines because the band never breaks out too big with their songs. Sometimes you would desire that, finding yourself hoping they just go across the line and go really wild, but all is kept in between the lines.
It is an exciting album that will entertain you for many hours and yet it makes you wonder whether they could have been a bit more naughty with it. Some more to find out on a future release perhaps.
