Utrecht Invites is an organization that invites bands into town to play for the locals. This time it was the formation Cable35, which has their home base in UK, to headline with two Dutch bands to support.

Orgaanklap is to open this night. And while they are doing so we had the thought that Turmion Kätilöt had a Dutch clone, but we were being a bit mislead by the industrial party intro and the (missing) clothes. Musically the band goes into a way different direction as the set starts. More into punk, rebellious and that all in Dutch. Most remarkable is when they pronounce their displeasure about the fact they are not being played at a Dutch radio station that’s called 100% NL, which only plays artists singing in Dutch but usually sticks with different genres also.
Performance wise the band has probably more in common with the Finnish Industrial act, barely clothed: check, a little touch of fetish: check, the suggestion of onstage sex: check and so the list goes on. For the Dutch audience it is more of a rarity to see a show like this and therefore they easily grab the people’s attention. An entertaining start of the evening it was.

Rectum Raiders is the second band and they seem to have found the show element as well, however it obviously is more of mess. It is not always the most logical choice made and it seems like they take the most hilarious out of different styles and stick it all together. Not always equals a winning factor. However, these guys make it come out quite ok. The Glam Rock, the cheesy covers, the outfits, it is bringing something recognizable to their audience and it could have been done worse, but also better. Leaves you in that area that is called the average.
For the audience it does not seem to matter, the party is within them and the band gives them enough to enjoy as it seems. For some really over the top party we suggest some Michael Monroe or Andy McCoy though.

Alternative Rock trio Cable35 have recently released “Fungus” which brought them on the road. It was not unfamiliar for the audience as it seems by the people rocking along with them. The music brings you to the grunge, back in time and yet it’s anno 2013. Well performed and with plenty of energy it is not too hard for the band to get everyone alive. The guys have released their full length album “Louder” (review) in 2011 and if the tracks from that release are played you can notice the band has become a bit more accessible nowadays. The songs captivate you just a little more stronger and that makes the tracks of “Fungus” stand out a lot during this show. Altogether the band plays a set that shows the various sides of them, how the band can easily take you from one place to another, but you never feel like missing out of something, they take you by the hand and guide you through the set, feeling convenient. A nice show!
