Seagulls Insane And Swans Deceased Mining Out The Void – Seagulls Insane And Swans Deceased Mining Out The Void

Releasedate: 25-11-2012; Label: Witching Hour Productions
By: Sabine van Gameren

Try to remember the name, Seagulls Insane And Swans Deceased Mining Out The Void are coming from Poland and made a self-titled release.

Nihil and Havoc, both known from other projects came together for a creative week on Saturn and this release is what came from it. It is Black Metal, Post Metal, Maybe some Doom and a lot of your own imagination. The music remains quite slow throughout the album, but has that Post element in it that drags you along with their music. Yet, what appears to be a bit of a breaker, sometimes this goes on too long and is the will to stay with them not there anymore. It doesn’t hold you in the length and that’s a pity as they have quite an interesting structure to begin with. That typical droning sound would have matched this formation so well, a step into that direction could have brought it to a higher level. It surely has its moments, but it all comes down to time issues. The first two tracks aren’t the most accessible tracks while the third track opens up a bit. Yet the most precious moments are to be found only after listening it multiple times so therefore they must make sure that there is a will for playing it again.
It is a release that comes from the heart of some musicians, pure and as it is, but maybe lacks the consideration of the listener in it, a pity, because the skills are shown in it.
