Sometimes everything goes a bit different than planned. But with a bit of effort you can work your way around it. This Wednesday Magenta Harvest and Khroma were due to play in ACU. Unfortunately one of the venue’s staff passed away that day. Not really a day to party to. Obviously the gig there could not go on. But the organizers of the evening agreed with another venue in town, DB’s that they could use a rehearsalspace to have the gig going. Limited entry: 25 people only.

So it is a rather unique experience, thanks to DB’s for allowing this to take place.
DB’s is not in citycenter, but thanks to facebook the word of relocation got out and a bunch of people came to see the shows. First to play was Magenta Harvest. The Finnish formation has been founded in 2005 and gathered the line up in the following years. Anno 2018 the band has two full lengths released and heading the road here. For the first time in NL.
Luckily a few of the lucky attendants came specially for them, and their music gives a heavy start. Passionate Death Metal comes with a slight touch of industrial. Songs are often a bit longer than you anticipated for but the guys manage to keep the story complete and the variation in it keeps you listening. The latest album “…and Then Came the Dust” was represented well and the guys played a solid set.

For Khroma things were a bit unfortunate. There were some issues with the sound and with the clock ticking towards the deadline of this evening there was simply no time to fix all that. The show must go on and so they did. With limited time the Khroma classics got their main focus, “Brace Yourself” and many others from “Stasis” passed by. The industrial metal formation brought the energy in the place. With this intimate show it is not hard to feel the vibe and get infected with the energy of the music and the band. It radiates in their show and so the heat is on.
Yet, the set was a bit short this time, but the atmosphere was king.

So not everything went as planned, so we decided to take the ride up north and see the whole happening again in Leeuwarden.

There the bands had the Dutch band Polter as a support. Unfortunately we could not see the whole set of these guys, but what we did see stood out right away and therefore must be mentioned. The guys perform energetic, makes that easy to feel each word they bring. Founded in 2015 they are now right on their way to make a name and in short time they made us believe in that. We hope to see them again soon so we see the whole set.

From Magenta Harvest we did not see everything either, but what we did see was alike the day before. A solid set with powerful songs and an audience that seem to like them just as much.

Khroma was on much better luck this day. The whole came out much better and with some more time on hands the guys even played some new material. Much in line of what we are used too from the guys, but perhaps with even deeper intensity. So their show. On perfect highlight were the vocals tonight, a showcase of power with words and how they are brought. Altogether, a perfect comeback from some bad luck the night before.

Two nights, both remarkable on its own, but with three bands that are all giving a lot of energy it became an happening that was memorable. We recommend each of them for when they hit your town.
