Dave Kerzner is an artist making progrock. Mostly known from the band Sound Of Contact which released one album that caught many people’s attention. Then, he went solo. In 2014 an album called “New World” got released and now he returns with a new release called “Static”.
“Static” is a conceptalbum which speaks of life and chaos in that. Something many people can relate to. It is a rather dark subject, which certainly translates to the album. The progressive touch that we are familiar with concerning mr Kerzner is here and there a bit Psychedelically tinted. Listen for example to the title track, a rather unique twist added to the whole.
If you look for a more rocky song you get towards “Dirty Soap Box” which creates a nice balance in the album, to make the variance a bit more vivid. And you’ll need some of that, for the album is full. Full of extra musicians, much details, much of everything. Which does make it a bit heavy to listen to. You really need to invest time in it to make the most out of it.
Yet you could safely say that this album is worth the investment made. It gives back a lot to the dedicated listener. But sure, it ain’t an easy one. Let’s see how “Static” will reach its audience.
