Tiger Army was back on the road and we were there. Earlier this year the Californian rockabilly band Tiger Army had released their brand new album “V …-“. And now they are presenting their music live in Europe. Tonight Tiger Army stopped at Tavastia in Helsinki. It is one of the most popular and famous venues in Helsinki, Finland. The show was sold out and Relentless was opening up for Tiger Army.

RelentlessThe trio from Joensuu was warming up the audience. As they entered the stage, the venue was packed already. Quite some people had come out tonight to see Relentless and Tiger Army. Most of them were wearing band shirts of Tiger Army and all were ready to rock.

So as Relentless entered the stage, they did not leave the audience much time to adjust to the pace or the music. But there was no need. Everyone was right along with the tunes and melodies. The rockabilly music of Relentless was a perfect match for the main act.

Relentless also included a stand-up bass with which the bass player toyed around. He twisted the bass and moved it around while playing.

The music of Relentless was catchy. In between the songs, the guys talked to the audience, thanked them for coming out and got them warmed up quite a bit.

Tiger ArmyAfter a quick change over it was time for Tiger Army to head up on stage. It had been about eight years since they last played in Finland. So there was quite some excitement in the air. The audience was going insane as the intro began playing. And then, as the band entered the stage, the audience was cheering out loud, ready to rock the night away.

Tiger Army began playing their songs right away. They enjoyed every second of it and so did the audience. Even though the singer, Nick13 had a little cold, he performed and sang like it was nothing. The audience sang along to every word, dancing and shouting, as well as cheering out loud after each song.

Between the songs the Californians thanked everyone in the audience and announced some of the songs. They did not speak a lot but there was no need for that. The music and the performance said it all. Tiger Army played old and new songs. A good mix of songs that were hits and always played and songs that were performed live barely ever. So it happened that as Tiger Army returned for the first encore, Nick13 began performing “Where The Moss Slowly Grows”. Then the band joined him.

Tiger Army played for a little over ninety minutes and came back on stage for encores twice. It was an amazing evening with an amazing band. The audience left with a smile on their faces. This was a night they would remember for long.
