Orange Maplewood is a Dutch formation making rock music. The band released a debut album in 2014 and return with an EP this year. “Sorry (I never believed in a Rock n Roll Star)” is out now.

When listening to the three tracks of this EP you get to hear three different things. They are connected, but the band perhaps could strengthen it a bit. They have references to bands like Oasis for example. It works, because the band presents it skilfully, but here and there we are longing for a bit more of what the band brings in themselves. Perhaps if you get to know them with a full length album that would be coming forward stronger.
What we do like about these guys is the way they can drag you into their sound. “Will Melody Be Mine?”, the last track on this EP, is a long one and yet they manage to keep the attention with the song by mainly the guitars who create an interesting playfield to observe.

Orange Maplewood gives us a fine release. Maybe a fourth song would have given us just that bit more that we needed for an EP but it is a fine introduction. The guys may need to grow a bit in highlighting their own face, but that will come in future perhaps.
