Stam1na – Elokuutio

[schema type=”review” name=”Stam1na – Elokuutio” description=”Label: Sakara Records” author=”Sabine van Gameren” pubdate=”2016-05-22″ ]Stam1na is a well seen guest in any metal party. The Finnish band have set name since 1996 and are often seen at Finnish festivals drawing huge crowds. Finnish songs they make, but the band has also plenty of fans across the Finnish border. This year a new album came out: “Elokuutio”.

The band has a melodic side, they start it calmly and then built it up. Tempo’s go up and eventually break down for you to calm it down. The vocals are in Finnish but the band knows how to put the atmosphere right there for the listener so he will feel the touch of it. Some keys are messing with your head. Some synth rock… then you think… no it is more proggy, but eventually it all blends into the sound that the guys set down. At the release you may think they don’t bring much vehemence but then you get to the third song “Meidänkaltaisillemme” which goes a bit stronger on that. But in other songs they go a bit more obscure again. The band likes to show diversity and that is something that shows their strength. The technical side of them is what unites all of it. That is the strength of these guys.

“Elokuutio” is an album that shows us the many different sides of these guys. They know how to make it come together and because of this diversity it is not strange to have it appeal to many. We know already that we will see the band in summer, we are looking forward to share the festival with these guys as the album is a fine one and invites to look at them live.
