Dperd is an Italian dark wave formation by Carlo Disimone and Valeria Buono. These two have been working together for quite some years already. They were both members of a band called “Fear of the Storm”. That band already had a release in 1995 but under the name of Dperd we have received many releases of the band already. This year they come with a new one that is simply called “V”.

So another release by Dperd pass by and this time we get another exhibition of Valeria’s pleasant voice that takes us through the track list. She has a big win over many of the female vocalists we get to hear here, because of her very controlled way of singing. Making it sound like it does not cost any effort at all, but not going overboard with showing the edges of her reach. All fits in the song and the story she tells it is balanced. The warmth in her voice makes it easy to listen to a release like this, that is also the cause of this album sounding closer to herself as ever before. It comes from within and with a great instrumental backing the picture is said. Guitars are presenting you beautiful riffs without taking a spotlight position. It is there and you are aware, but it does not let you drift away from the total. But… you should really take a moment to concentrate on that instrumental part and you will find a lot of beauty in there.

The golden duo is back again, Dperd gave us a beautiful release again. A dreamy sound that is intimate, personal and warm. These Italians don’t surprise me with making a good album, they always did, but the way it is done is yet a bit different from its previous and so you could say that they simply surprised with that!
